Welcome to SchnarchFrei, the practice for dental sleep medicine.
Since 2007, we have specialized in restoring peaceful and restful nights for you and your bed partner. For this purpose, we cooperate with referring physicians who are qualified in sleep medicine.
Mandibular advancement splints / anti-snoring splint / apnea splint
We make mandibular advancement splints and use them to treat snoring and breathing pauses (sleep apnea). We follow the professional guidelines of the German Society for Sleep Research and Sleep Medicine (DGSM). We use it to treat snoring as well as mild and moderate cases of obstructive sleep apnea.
Patients with severe sleep apnea should always be treated first with positive pressure ventilation (e.g. CPAP). If you cannot tolerate this, our mandibular protrusion splints are a treatment alternative, which is weaker than CPAP, but better than going untreated.
When you come to us for a consultation/examination, we ask that you bring sleep medicine findings with you – if you already have them. A polygraph (nocturnal measurement at home) or a polysomnography (measurement in a sleep lab) without a therapeutic agent, i.e. your “baseline” measurement, is important to know exactly what problem you have.
In the first appointment it is essential that we check whether you are suitable for therapy with mandibular advancement splints from a dental point of view.
Do you have a dentist? Then let’s keep it that way! As experts, we are happy to work with them and with us you will then receive exclusively the nocturnal splint therapy.
Bite splints / grinding splints
Another type of splints is intended for people who overload their teeth, masticatory muscles and jaw joint at night by grinding or pressing. Such splints can be simple protective splints or highly customized bite splints. We will examine and advise you on what is the best therapy alternative for you.
